JKSA Rebukes Pakistan Over Jamia Protests, Asserts India’s Sovereignty in Domestic Affairs
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association condemns Pakistan’s remarks on Jamia Millia Islamia protests, asserting India’s sovereignty and emphasizing that internal campus issues must be resolved through constitutional and institutional mechanisms without external interference.
National Convenor Nasir Khuehami stated that Pakistan’s comments were unwarranted and constituted a direct attempt to interfere in India’s domestic issues. He emphasized that Pakistan has no authority to comment on developments within Indian universities, particularly on matters that fall strictly within the country’s internal governance framework.
Khuehami further underlined that differences and dissent within academic campuses are intrinsic to a democratic system. He noted that such issues must be addressed through established institutional and constitutional mechanisms, reinforcing the strength of India’s democratic processes.
The association also highlighted the historical and national significance of Jamia Millia Islamia, describing it as a distinguished institution closely linked to India’s freedom struggle and deeply rooted in democratic values. JKSA reiterated that the university represents a legacy of intellectual independence and national pride.
In its statement, JKSA stressed that India possesses robust constitutional safeguards capable of addressing internal challenges effectively. It asserted that the country neither requires nor welcomes external advice on matters concerning its domestic affairs.
The development underscores a broader assertion of India’s sovereignty, with JKSA firmly positioning internal academic and political discourse as issues to be resolved within the nation’s democratic and constitutional framework, free from foreign commentary.
